It is preferable for the teacher to start setting relatively simple goals for the individual lesson and a goal that can be achieved through relatively few and simple steps.

It may be very useful that the teacher has prepared small illustrated guidelines for distribution that show/repeat the functions that have just been taught via projector or overhead.

If some of the participants are faster than planned, even after practicing x number of repetitions, these pre-prepared guidelines have new learning challenges ready for them.

It is important to start achieving the simple first – such as opening a website for a newspaper.

Success creates motivation to embark on the next challenge.

A very simple first learning goal for many senior students may be to learn to control and become familiar with the mouse and cursor. It may therefore be a good idea to start with open computers and a task that challenges and is about practicing the fine motor skills and eye/hand coordination that requires controlling the mouse and arrow. It avoids bringing a major challenge into the next learning processes in relation to the use of the programs and the possibilities offered by the computer. If the senior student does not feel familiar with the mouse and cursor it will be a key distraction to learn and solve the next tasks.
